About Us

Dyett & Bhatia is an urban planning consulting firm, based in Oakland, leading projects that address the key planning challenges of our time, across California and beyond. Sustainable placemaking is at the core of what we do, and environmental justice, public health, and climate resilience are principal considerations in all of our work. Position

We are looking for a passionate urban planner with background/interest/experience in land use planning and built form to be part of our close-knit team. Position will involve research and analysis; writing reports and plans; and assisting with community outreach and project coordination. The ideal candidate will have exposure to California planning practice and geographic familiarity with the state, and background/ability in one or more of the following areas:

• Graduate degree in planning or closely related field

• Exceptional writing skills

• Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills

• Understanding of built form through education/experience in land use planning/urban design/comprehensive planning

• Effective verbal communication skills, and an ability to work effectively in teams

 

Expertise with Excel and Adobe CC is desirable. At least some previous planning experience is required. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel occasionally. 

This is a hybrid WFH/office position. Successful candidate will need to be based in or willing to relocate to the Bay Area.

 

Salary and Benefits​

Anticipated starting salary range for candidates with graduate degree and 1 to 8 years of experience is from $75,000 to $140,000 annually, plus benefits. Actual compensation offered will depend upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, education, years of experience, and familiarity with California planning. The firm offers discretionary annual bonus; paid holidays, vacation and sick time; retirement savings matching; and other benefits, including health insurance.
