Alameda Point General Plan Amendment

Dyett & Bhatia prepared the Alameda Point Element of the General Plan in 2002 for the City of Alameda, which continues to guide development of the 2,900-acre Alameda Point, formerly the Alameda Naval Air Station, which was closed in 1997.  The Element builds off of the Community Reuse Plan developed for the site, and covers a comprehensive range of topics, including land use, transportation, open space, hazards and safety, and environmental resources. Changes to the rest of the General Plan, also prepared by D&B in 1990s, were also prepared to ensure internal consistency.  The Element outlines goals and policies for:

Seamless integration of Alameda Point with the rest of the city;
Fostering vibrant mixed-use neighborhoods, with continuing employment emphasis;
Establishing neighborhood centers to foster walkability and transit;
Maximizing waterfront accessibility; and
Linking development with available transportation capacity.
