Dyett & Bhatia was recently selected as the lead consultant for the Downtown Windsor Station, part of the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) project. Originally settled as an agricultural community in the 1850s, Windsor has transitioned from its rural past and has come to be well regarded for turning smart growth planning principles and vision to action. In particular, community members, town staff, and town leaders have done a commendable job of creating an attractive viable Downtown nearly from scratch—one of the most impressive downtown transformations anywhere in the Bay Area.

The Windsor Station is located adjacent to Downtown and less than one-half mile from Highway 101. The City has already constructed the station in anticipation of the rail. With a logical economic development strategy, a plan for housing growth, 700 residential units and six acres of commercial development in the pipeline, and the coming SMART project that will provide fast and sustainable access within the region, the town has set a foundation for station area planning efforts. Dyett & Bhatia will lead community outreach, visioning and issue identification, alternatives analysis, and preparation of the Station Area Plan and Environmental Impact Report.
