Dyett & Bhatia prepared a new General Plan for Santa Rosa, the Bay Area’s fourth-largest city, located in Sonoma County. The major challenges addressed included preparing a Plan to foster a “livable city” and the amount and character of infill development. The plan was adopted in 2001. Alternatives examined as part of the General Plan included a neighborhood-oriented development pattern, that would maximize accessibility, and a “hub and spoke” form, with development clustered in infill locations along major arterials leading to downtown.
