In 2002, Dyett & Bhatia completed a new General Plan for the City of San Ramon that was mandated by Measure G. Measure G charged the process with two interrelated tasks:

• To draft a new General Plan that considered the development of urban growth boundaries to encourage smart growth.

• To prepare and recommend a plan for the acquisition of ridgeline areas and agricultural lands contiguous to the City to be preserved as open space in perpetuity.

In March 2002, the Plan was presented to voters and approved by a 77% majority.
