Redlands is a distinctive city in an increasingly homogenizing Inland Empire region. It has livable neighborhoods, exquisitely crafted historical buildings, defined edges, and distinctive landforms. Redlanders are also passionate about planning, as evidenced by a variety of planning-related measures passed in recent years.

Dyett & Bhatia conducted community visioning and prepared a Strategic Plan for a comprehensive update of the City's General Plan. D&B facilitated stakeholder and community meetings, and City Council/Planning Commission workshops, and prepared a citywide mail-in survey. Outreach was complemented with technical review of the General Plan and evaluation of broader regional trends. The project culminated in recommendations on vision and key themes for the comprehensive General Plan and Zoning Ordinance Update. D&B was subsequently selected by the City for Phase 2—General Plan and Zoning Ordinance Update. D&B also completed Redlands' Housing Element update which was recently adopted by the City. HCD delivered its second round of comments, which will be incorporated into the document shortly.
