The City has recently hired Dyett & Bhatia to undertake a comprehensive update of the General Plan and Local Coastal Program, which are more than 30-years old, to frame a sustainable land use, housing, and transportation vision for the next 20 years. A comprehensive Environmental Impact Report will also be prepared. An analysis of existing conditions is underway, along with multifaceted outreach.

While growth is likely to remain slow in Pacifica, an updated General Plan will allow the City to shape the location and form of new development, and enable residents to frame a vision for the future. Many current Plan goals remain relevant; however some issues call for new attention, including revitalizing commercial areas, prioritizing public facilities needs, and enhancing the city’s spectacular coastal location.
