Cincinnati, located in southern Ohio, has a rich industrial riverfront history. It is blessed with vibrant neighborhoods that are defined by the City’s seven hills. It was also home to the first comprehensive plan in the U.S. in 1925. The challenge for Dyett & Bhatia in updating the City’s Zoning Code, is not only to protect Cincinnati’s neighborhoods and industrial areas, but also address modern demands of city building, such as redevelopment and transit-oriented development. With the assistance of Lane Kendig, Dyett & Bhatia is recommending great use of performance standards and mixed use districts that will ensure use and design compatibility in established nieghborhoods. In addition, revised use regulations introducing a classification scheme and the limited permit process will ease Code use, streamline permit review, and promote a mix of complementary uses. |
